Established in 1933, Merewether Golf Course is located in the heart of Newcastle and is favourite of many golfers across the region.

Merewether Golf Course is set among eucalyptus tree-lined tight fairways with strategic bunkers and formidable water hazards. This challenging 18-hole layout has a wonderful variety of golf holes with excellent year-round conditioning.

Merewether Golf Club offer one of the best practice facilities in Newcastle. The practice area includes an area for the use of a range where you can use your own balls. In addition we have practice putting greens and a practice bunker which mirror the course playing conditions.

Please note that these facilities are only available to members and their guests, and to visitors who are playing the course.

MEMBERSHIP

Here at Merewether Golf, we have a combination of the traditional 6 and 7-day memberships along with alternative membership types that are designed for time-poor golfers as well as social golfers not interested in competitions or an official handicap.

FUNCTIONS

For your special event, there’s nowhere quite like Merewether Golf Club – one of Newcastle’s premier function venues. We are located in the heart of Newcastle, 10 minutes from Newcastle’s famous beaches, pretty much 10 minutes from anywhere in Newcastle.

The Club’s Function Room overlooks the beautiful park-like surrounds of our course and enjoys superb city light views in the evenings. Weddings, engagements, trivia nights, anniversaries, birthdays, dinners, product launches, and other special events can all be personally tailored to suit your needs.

HISTORY

Merewether Golf Club was founded in 1933, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in the Newcastle region. Merewether golf course has seen many changes over its 85 year history.

From 1933 to 1983 and beyond step through time with us and see how Merewether Golf has progressed over the years. From the first men’s captain F.J.Rourke, the first clubhouse the Merewether Golf has evolved with the times and the next phase will be even more exciting.
